Library Events

Our Spanish program at the library is designed to provide a gateway to the rich world of Spanish language and culture. We offer a variety of engaging activities that cater to both beginners and advanced learners. From Spanish language classes and conversation workshops to cultural events and book discussions, our program aims to foster a deeper appreciation for the Spanish language and the diverse cultures it represents. Whether you’re looking to learn a new language, improve your existing skills, or simply connect with fellow Spanish enthusiasts, our library is the perfect place to embark on your linguistic and cultural journey. Types of events we offer at libraries…

for Babies to 5 years old.

I use games with balloons, flashcards, toys, songs to learn the parts of the body, we pretend to be in “el mercado”, the grocery store and we buy fruits and vegetables, also kiddos learn the colors using this game too. They love to play with the parachute and I use it to teach them the days of the week, and the months of the year. They play, jump, and run following directions in Spanish to mention a few. This class is very active, with different activities to engage the kids for 30 minutes. Part of this Program is also Sing along in Spanish with movements and mimics.

Social Spanish Fun Club

This program can be for kids who practice Spanish or those who want to learn. Students could come to immerse themselves into a Spanish class in which all the time is spent hearing and speaking Spanish, playing bingo, singing, dancing to Hispanic music, learning facts about the specific Hispanic country, its flag, traditions, culture, food, music, weather, location, and more. This program is ideal for six years old to 12 years old. This program makes projects for every class, students learn the ABC, numbers, vocabulary, and learn how to speak the daily routines, learn songs and play engaging games.Students learn to identify words in Spanish.

for Special Needs Kids

I would also like to offer a class for all our special needs kiddos that sometimes feel that the community does not offer activities for them. Being a mom and a foster mom of kids with special needs, I know that sometimes they can not participate in certain activities or classes because it is too noisy, too overwhelming, or too stimulating. My class would be organized primarily for them. Please let me know when I can make this class only for them.

for Adults

Food always brings the community together and is the best environment to learn and have fun. This is a fun and interactive class. The class will have an easy but traditional Hispanic recipe like the popular Guacamole from Mexico in which the students would learn vocabulary, facts about the country’s recipe, and more. Students will pretend to be in a Hospital, hotel, bank, and other places practicing Spanish.

    Meet Kathy, a curious, funny, and
    energetic caterpillar.
    Kathy loves to dance, sing, play games
    but also eat. Kathy will show you step
    by step how a caterpillar becomes a
    butterfly.
    Students will learn about the life cycle of
    a butterfly and their 4 stages which are
    collectively known as metamorphosis.
    Each student will follow the 4 stages by
    doing 100% hands on activities in each
    stage full of songs and dancing. Once
    they completed the 4 stages of a
    butterfly, they will wear a butterfly
    custom. Students will fly to Mexico by
    singing and dancing, students will learn
    when and how the Monarch butterflies
    arrive in Mexico.

    Each student will keep their own
    butterfly egg, caterpillar, chrysalis and
    the adult butterfly.

       Spanish Basic is a beginning-level in which Students will begin to develop confidence talking, reading and writing in Spanish. Students could immerse themselves into a Spanish class in which all the time is spent hearing and speaking Spanish, playing bingo, singing, dancing Hispanic music, learning facts about a specific Hispanic country, the flag, traditions, culture, food, music, weather, location, and more. 

    Our classes are hands-on. Students will be able to hear and see native speakers from different countries through videos. Each unit also includes various interactive activities and cultural notes. Students will complete a project at the end of each session. These projects will allow students to demonstrate their mastery of the Spanish language concepts taught in this course

    This program is 45 minutes long. We start the Program by dancing a Mexican song with the rhythm of the Mariachi music. The audience loves to see my beautiful Mexican dress. By learning and singing our Hola song, the class starts. Kids love to have fun with the parachute, they learn vocabulary by playing with it. I use puppets and engaging games to teach them the days of the week, the months of the year, and many more vocabulary. They play, dance, jump, and run following directions in Spanish to mention a few. This class is very active, with different activities to engage the kids. My puppet Lola is always hungry and she invites the audience to go to “El Mercado” and buy some food for her. Lola gives them a mexican bag and the audience pretend to buy food. Then, she asks the kids to give her food. This activity is great to teach them vocabulary. At the end of the program, we play with the Parachute and balls.The program is designed to be dynamic, energetic, interactive, and enjoyable. EVERY PROGRAM IS DIFFERENT, WITH NEW GAMES AND ACTIVITIES.

    Spanish Basic is a beginning-level in which Students will begin to develop confidence talking, reading and writing in Spanish. Students could immerse themselves into a Spanish class in which all the time is spent hearing and speaking Spanish, playing bingo, singing, dancing Hispanic music, learning facts about a specific Hispanic country, the flag, traditions, culture, food, music, weather, location, and more. Our classes are hands-on. Students will be able to hear and see native speakers from different countries through videos. Each unit also includes various interactive activities and cultural notes. Students will complete a project at the end of each session. These projects will allow students to demonstrate their mastery of the Spanish language concepts taught in this course.
